Hey everyone!
I made this tutorial for you to show you how I design clothes. Rather than tracing over pictures sometimes I like to create clothes to look like Stardoll outfits and fit dolls!
This tutorial is for a simple dress, not too detailed (besides for the dots which are easy but take a while!) and doesn't take very long. This particular dress took me about an hour.
Tips:
◙ Don't try to copy each shadow and highlight perfectly, you'll never get it to look the same! Stardoll graphics aren't as realistic as real clothes anyway so you shouldn't spend a lot of time trying to make it too realistic. After all, it is for a doll.
◙ Study graphics other people have done and similar items of clothing on Stardoll. It really helps you to understand where to shade and how to do it right. For example when I'm doing shorts, I look at shorts on Stardoll and try to mimic the shadow patterns but not the exact shape, just how they are drawn.
◙ Practice makes perfect! Don't give up on your first try just because it doesn't turn out how you wanted it to. The more you design, the better you get ♥
