Ancient Egyptian Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! Today my article will be the first of a 2 part article on Ancient Egyptian Costume. I will be focussing on the makeup by making a tutorial. With this tutorial you can look like an Ancient Egyptian.

Before I start the tutorial, I will explain each of the cosmetics used by Ancient Egyptians. Both male and female Ancient Egyptians wore make up. For their eyes they used black kohl made from lead to line their eyes and they used crushed malachite for eye shadow. They used these specific minerals because they believed that they protected against dirt and dust from getting in the eyes. For their lips they used red ochre mixed with animal fat.

Now that we looked at the history of Ancient Egyptian makeup, let's do the tutorial

Step 1: Remove your make up. Also change your eyebrows to black.

Step 2: Add teal coloured eye shadow. Do it twice so it is a stronger colour. Teal is the colour of malachite.

Step 3: Add kohl. Make sure the eye liner has long wings to the side. Use liquid liner in black.

Step 4: Add red lipstick.

Now you are finished with this look. Most upper class Ancient Egyptians were bald and used wigs, which you will see in the second part of this article.

Have a good week. Remember to read this next week to see the second part of my article.
